Win a $25 Gift Certificate from Nanuk’s Igloo Custom Jewelry!

The new Nanuk’s Igloo shop will be opening its doors within the next couple of weeks. In honor of this amazing event, I am holding a referral contest.

This contest offers 2 prizes.
The first prize is a $25 gift certificate.
The second prize is a $10 gift certificate.

To win the $25 certificate, refer friends to the website and have them purchase an item. The person who gets the most website referrals, will be awarded with a $25 gift certificate which can be redeemed for any purchase on the site (except custom orders). Make sure that your referrals include your complete name in the additional information box at checkout so that you receive credit for their purchase.

To win the $10 certificate, refer new fans to the Nanuk’s Igloo Custom Jewelry Page. The person who refers the most new fans will receive a $10 gift certificate which can be redeemed for any purchase on the site (except custom orders). Make sure that your referrals either write on The Wall and include your name or send me a message when they sign up. This is the only way I will be able to track your referrals.

If you are not already a fan of Nanuk’s Igloo, please go ahead and visit our page.

Contest ends on August 1, 2008.

Thank you all for your continued support.

Moving Right Along

It’s been a little while since I gave any updates on the shop, so here I am.

I’m waiting to hear back from the town for my town business license and then after that I will be setting a firm opening date.  Hopefully by July 15 I will be open for business.  Things have taken a little longer than expected, but are coming along now.

Getting Ready for Business

So far, all I’ve gotten done in the shop is painting, but it looks so much better already and I can’t wait to get moving on the rest of it next weekend.

Looking for Local Artists and Crafters

Now that Nanuk’s Igloo is opening an actual store, I want to help other local artists and crafters introduce their items to the public.

When I first starting making jewelry in high school, my customers were other high school students and family. I had a ready supply of consumers on hand all the time. After I started making jewelry as an actual business, I realized just how hard it is to find customers when my jewelry isn’t part of the mainstream. I tried Ebay first and then Etsy, but with only minimal success because the customer still needed to be looking for what I had to offer. Then I did the craft show circuit and enjoyed the experience. I learned a lot about customer interaction and displays from the craft shows. The next step was renting my case at a local shop where customers could walk by as they looked around the rest of the store. Now, I will have a store that people walk by every day.

I want to offer local artists and crafters a chance to sell their items in my shop.

If you are interested in renting a small space (the shop itself is very tiny) or having items sold in the shop, please contact me at

My starting rate is $25 a month for renting space. Sorry, but I’m not looking to consign pieces or buy items from you, but instead to offer you a local shop to display some items. You can rent a space for as long as you would like, but I do require a two month trial commitment up front. After that, you can go month to month if you’d like or sign an additional commitment. You are free to advertise that your items are in the my store and to invite potential customers to meet with you there. You set your prices and receive all proceeds from your sales with the exception of any credit card processing fees that may be incurred. At the end of each month, you will receive a complete report of your sales. If you have a website, I will include a link to your website on my own site and in this blog. The same goes for an email address or blog of your own.

Remember, space is limited and I reserve the right to only include one artist from each type, so if you’re interested don’t wait to email me. Get in on this now!

I hope to work with you soon!

Last Minute Appearance Cancellation

I’m sorry to say that due to some very last minute complications, I will not be appearing at Kathy’s Kove today for the Hackettstown Victorian Day.  Remember though, that Nanuk’s Igloo is at Kathy’s full time and that you can always shop online.

I’m sorry to disappoint those of you who were coming to see me today, but soon I’ll be available all the time in the shop.

It’s Official!

The lease is signed!

Nanuk’s Igloo Custom Jewelry will no longer just be online.  There is now a physical location for everyone to visit.

In July, Nanuk’s Igloo will be opening at 321 Mill St, Belvidere, NJ 07823.

Every item you see on the website will now be available for sale in the store.  Shop in person, shop online – your choice!

June Birthstone Options

I have been doing  a little research once again on birthstones.  Since it is June and I was born in June, I think this is a good place to start.

The standard birthstone we all know for June is the pearl.  As a June birthday, I’ve never been fond of pearls.  I often wondered why other months got such pretty sparkly stones and June got the “pearl”.

I’m happy to report that there are other options.  If you have a June birthday and are looking for something more “you” to wear, take a look at the following:

(Swarovski Crystal Emerald and Sterling Silver Earrings.)

(Black Czech Crystal, Swarovski Pearls, and Black Tree Agate Pendant.)

(Blue Chalcedony ad Celtic Swirl Bracelet)

(Turquoise and Celtic Accent Earrings.)

(Moonstone and Swarovski Crystal Bracelet)

(Steel Cats Eye Bracelet)

So the next time you’re looking for a birthstone choice that is a bit more modern, fun, or your style, keep in mind that there are other choices that are just as pretty, but that might not be the standard in birthstone jewelry.
